Waterford Institute of Technology are through to the semi finals of this year’s Fitzgibbon Cup and a meeting with Mary Immaculate College from Limerick this Friday afternoon at GMIT, following a hard fought four point victory over University of Limerick ar Carriganore on Wednesday last.
Playing with the aid of the breeze at their backs in the opening half, the Suir-Side students as they had in the last game in the league stages of the competition against Cork Institute of Technology at the same venue, got off to a roaring stat with Kilkenny inter county reserve goalkeeper Eoin Murphy impressing throughout, playing at left half forward.
He finished the game with nine points, seven of which came from placed balls. If he can retain this form over the coming weeks he is bound to catch the eye of Kilkenny manager Brian Cody who could well be forced to find a place for him in his starting line up in their upcoming National League games and not necessarily between the posts.
