harrington09Deprived of a $13m Fedex Cup payday by Tiger Woods at the weekend, Pádraig Harrington says he hasn’t read a single article about himself since he was 18.

“You’ve got to avoid the good stuff [especially]… If you read the good stuff you’ll believe the bad stuff,” he reckons.

Unlike the increasingly surly Woods, whose ever-expanding wealth doesn’t seem to be bringing him much joy on the course, Harrington doesn’t mind co-operating with the media, believing: “You’ve got to go back to that old maxim, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.”

Tiger’s tenet on the other hand might be: treat ’em mean, keep ’em keen.
