Editor Kieran Walsh presents the Munster Express cup to Pat Fahy

Pat Fahy was the winner of the
Munster Express Cup at Tramore Golf
on Sunday, May 31st.
Fahy, a retired member of Eircom
playing off a handicap of 11 won with
40 points on a countback from Chris
Cully who plays off 12. David Bennett
playing off 3 won the gross with 71
while Charlie Dawson was third.
Kieran Walsh, MD of Munster
Express complimented the club on
the quality of the course and the All
Ireland Senior Cup win. He said he was
delighted to be involved with the sponsorship
of the Munster Express Cup
after 70 years. “The Munster Express
has been sponsoring this event since
1945. That is a lengthy and successful
sponsorship and I am delighted to be
still involved. I very much enjoy interviewing
team members and running
specials in the newspaper and we will
certainly be doing our bit with publicity
for the Irish Close Championships in
August. I believe the club is doing really
well again and I look forward to a positive
future for the club and the town”.
Tramore Captain David Jackman in
response thanked the Munster Express
for their continued sponsorship and
looked forward to the ongoing support
for the competition in the years ahead.
