IMG_5907Lynne O’Shea will be hoping to add to her growing list of accolades when she competes in the national senior boxing championships in February. The Waterford boxer claimed the 48kg title for the past three years and is currently training six days a week in an aim to win her fourth consecutive senior title.
The championships begin at the National Stadium next month while City West is due to host finals night on February 22nd. As part of her preparations O’Shea recently travelled to the 2013 Golden Girls Box Cup tournament at the Borashallen, in Boras, Sweden.The event, which is open to all female boxers, is a favourite with Irish boxers since it was established by Ray Husac in 2009.
70 of the best female boxers in Europe fought for the ‘Golden Girl’ title in 2009, the figure increased to 164 boxers this year. Lynne O’Shea reached the 48kg final when she defeated Lotta Loikkanen of Finland 18-15 in the semi-final.
