PicAThe Government is committed to establishing a national DNA database which will assist the Gardaí in investigating crimes, as well as assisting in the finding and identifying of missing persons and recovered human remains.
The news has been welcomed by the Waterford-based Committee For The Forgotten, which told The Munster Express that the news represented “a step in the right direction”.
In a lengthy statement to this newspaper, the Department of Justice referred to the
Criminal Justice (Forensic Evidence and DNA Database System) Bill, which is due to be published shortly.
