A team from Fewer Harrington Lawlor & Partners Architects, Planners and Project Managers, has smashed their fundraising goal of €10,000 for the ISPCC by collecting €18,200 for the charity.
Some 26 members of staff at the practice spent November growing moustaches as part of the ISPCC’s ‘Tache for Cash’ campaign aimed at financially supporting the Society’s work towards ending cruelty and injustice to children in Ireland.
The ‘shave night’ celebration took place last Friday when David Driscoll of Ardkeen Barbers took his razor to the fundraisers at The Three Shippes pub in Waterford City. There was a surprise additional shaving as Waterford Freeman Nicky Fewer volunteered to have his head shorn to ensure the company exceeded its fundraising target.
A raffle during the evening raised additional funds, with prizes kindly donated by a number of Waterford based businesses. Up for grabs on the night were: dinner for 2 at Waterford Castle; 2 golf lessons with Ted Higgins; 2 rounds of golf at Faithlegg House Hotel; a jumper from People of Oslo, valued at €210; Brunch café voucher; a selection of fine wines from World Wide Wines; €50 voucher from Becketts on Dunmore Road; Ardkeen superstores hamper worth €75; and a €50 gift voucher from Blarney Woolen Mills at the Dovehill centre. There was also support from local photographer Gerry O’Carroll.
The architects who took part in the ‘Tache for Cash’ campaign were: Andrew Rae, Andy Kiely, Ben Young, David Hallinana, David Twomey, Eamon Parkes, Eamonn Power, Eduardo De Leon Vazquez, Gary Lawlor, Gustavo Rojas Parades, Ian Fewer, James Aylward, James Young, Joe Winters, Justin Walshe, Kevin Meagher, Leandro Abreu, Mark Kennedy, Michael Costello, Niall Harrington, Paul O’Connor, Paul Cosgrave, Ronan Rudden, Ross Orr, Ryan McLoughlin and Tony Power.
After the event, Nicky Fewer said: “We are delighted at the amount we managed to raise for the ISPCC. The fact that we not only reached but almost doubled our goal is thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our staff and the generosity of our clients, friends, and families.
