The strains of Christ Church Cathedral’s magnificent organ, designed by Thomas Elliot and originally installed in the cathedral in 1817, will once again be heard this Sunday.
Considerable repair and cleaning of the organ was made necessary following a break-in at Christ Church on July 28th.
Thankfully, the repairs, believed to have run to €200,000, have been completed in time for Sunday’s annual Civic Carol Service, due to commence at 4pm.
The service features the choir of Christ Church Cathedral and the City of Waterford Brass, who recently launched a CD of 18 live recordings just in time for Christmas stockings!
Priced at €10, the performances are conducted by the Band’s current Musical Director Julie Quinlan, along with David Grant, Fergus O’Carroll, and Nigel Wilkinson of Oldham Choral Society.
