WLRfm/Granville Hotel GAA Awards 2014
Conor Gleeson, described by John ‘Jackson’ Kiely as the country’s leading underage footballer, was named as Overall Winner of the WLRfm/Granville Hotel GAA Award for 2014 at the awards banquet held at the Granville on Saturday evening last.
The latest honour bestowed upon the Nire/Fourmilewater clubman crowned a superb year, during which he inspired The Nire to the Senior Football Championship and captained Fourmile to Division Three Minor Hurling Championship glory.
“I’m in a bit of shock,” he told WLRfm’s Liz Reddy moments after Guest of Honour Michael Duignan’s announcement. “I really didn’t think I was going to win it, I don’t know what to say but I’m really delighted; it’s a big surprise to me.”
Conor added: “2014 was a great year for me, but there’s no point in me looking back now; it’ll be great to get back into action over the next few weeks and I hope 2015 will be a good year for me with Waterford and with the club of course…
