Banana Bag and Bodice an American theatre and band company who do song play brought an in-your-face howl of rowdy performance to the set with Beuwulf – A Thousand Years of Baggage. This was a noisy (two trombone players) take on the Beuwulf legend that drove away a few of the audience before it settled into a pastiche, piss take like a rag week college show. A mixture of academic guff and vulgarity. Spamalot meets Shitalot.
The company are on their way to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where the Fringe programme runs to 140 pages with 8 acts to a page but if you’ve never seen work like this it has at least a talking point. You would not leave the venue bored or numb.
