The Imagine John Dwyer Traditional Music Weekend never fails to entertain and enthral traditional music enthusiasts and 2015 will be no different. Friday 16th October kicks off with Danú in concert at the Tower Hotel at 8.00pm. Celebrating 20 years on the road Danú are now recognised as the most exciting act on the Irish Trad scene today. The audience in the Tower Hotel are certainly in for a treat. Saturday 17th will see a gathering of John Dwyer and friends at Dooleys hotel, featuring some of the best traditional musicians and dancers in the country including John Dwyer (fiddle), Derek Hickey (accordion), Tommy Fitzharris (flute), Donal McCague (fiddle), Mick O’Brien (uilleann pipes), Theresa O’Grady (banjo), Sean Ryan (whistle), Edwina Guckian (dance), Jack Talty (concertina), Josephine Marsh (accordion), Mick Kinsella (harmonica and concertina), Neill Byrne (fiddle), Lia Byrne (fiddle) and Edel Fox (concertina) plus many more! A lively trail of Traditional Music Sessions of over 30 acclaimed musicians and dancers will be have a 10.00pm start in local pubs Jordans, Katty Barrys, Dooleys hotel (both nights) Reginald bar (Friday 10pm and Sat. 4pm) Gingerman (Saturday only) and this is to be followed by 12 Midnight Festival Club (Friday night – Reginald bar / Saturday night – Dooleys Hotel bar), featuring all the visiting players in informal sessions – not to be missed! Daytimes are not a time for rest over the John Dwyer Weekend with Traditional Music Workshops in Gaelscoil na Deise on Saturday 17th at 10am, The Pat O’Brien Composition Competition and Composition workshop at Dooleys Hotel from 2.30pm. Sunday 18th October will see the Launch of a new CD by Mick Kinsella & Steve Larkin at 12 noon, followed by a Farewell Session from John Dwyer and Friends at Dooleys Hotel.
