Christmas is now only around the corner again and with it brings hardship to families in Carrick-on-Suir and its hinterland.
This year, the Conference hopes to involve the students of the secondary schools in the area again in its Christmas Food Appeal.
Last Christmas, through your generosity, the Conference was in a position to distribute 85 hampers to local people.
We would be hopeful that Students would embrace the idea and organize the collection of non-perishable goods in a common area in their school.
Conference members would liaise with the School and collect the donated items weekly and put into storage until mid-December at which time the goods would then be made up into appropriate hampers and distributed to the needy by our members a few days before Christmas.
We in the Conference feel that all your students would greatly benefit from the experience of donating to this project and see the great charitable benefits they are involved in at local level. Examples of non-perishable food items would be tinned fruit, jams, biscuits, sugar, sauces etc.
It has commenced and it will be completed by Friday, December 16th, thereby leaving the following week to make up and distribute the hampers.
Members of the Conference will contact you to see if your school is interested in participating in this project and the level of interest. Members will pay you a visit at an agreed time.
