The list of protected structures in the Piltown area may have 23 additions, the Piltown Electoral Area Committee of Kilkenny County Council was told at a meeting in Newrath last week.

Conservation Officer Aide Doyle told the members that public consultations were held under the Planning and Development Acts 200-2007 and the public was given six weeks to make submissions and observations on the Record of Protected Structures.

Eight submissions were received within the Piltown area during the consultation period and those would be taken into consideration before making the proposed changes to the record.

One deletion was proposed in the Piltdown area and a final decision regarding changes for County Kilkenny would be made at the next meeting of the County Council on December 21.
