Airline supremo Willie Walsh, whose mother hails from Waterford, was the guest speaker at last Friday’s Waterford Chamber annual dinner at the Tower Hotel, which drew a 250-strong attendance.
“I have great links to Waterford,” said Mr Walsh. “My mother grew up in Waterford city and I spent many a childhood summer in Tramore and Waterford.”
Addressing our current economic difficulties, Mr Walsh, who is CEO of International Airlines Group and President of the London Chamber of Commerce, said while times were tough, Ireland had demonstrated great fighting spirit of late.
