Planning permission has been lodged with the City Council for a development at the site of the closed Hibernian Bar off the Mall.
City solicitor and businessman Mark Keller has proposed a retail development for the site. Within the proposal, are plans for the development of a café and kitchen servery.
The plans are for ground floor level only, within the existing structure, and incorporate the reconstruction of a single storey structure within the rear yard area.
As well as all associated, ancillary and demolition works required for the Hibernian Bar, elevational changes to form shop frontage on Bank Lane and Bolton Street are also proposed. The site of the Hibernian, which is a protected structure, is within close proximity of the new House of Waterford Crystal, and encompasses 9-11 Mall Lane, 8-9 Bolton Street and 4-7 Bank Lane.
In 2007, a planning application submitted by Mr Keller was refused.
He had proposed knocking the premises to make way for a four storey office building.
A partial demolition was also proposed for the protected façade onto Mall Lane and Bank Lane.
