Experts drawn from Waterford’s building sector have brought local tradespeople together with potential customers through the launch of a new website – www.pricebeforeyoubuild.ie

From the end of October, this site will, say its backers, “offer a quantity surveying service (cost analysis) to everyone building their new home, conversion or extension”.

By offering such a service (which is also free, by the way) the website will feature details of tradesmen and suppliers operating in the Waterford area, as well as in South Kilkenny and South Tipperary.

Those registered with the website will have their details provided to customers within their general working environs when their hard copy Bill of Quantities is returned to them.

This hardcopy will be retained by the customers for whenever they need your services in the future.

However, no more than 20 per cent of trades and services across the three counties will be registered.

The reasoning for this? By limiting the numbers of tradesmen details on the site, those registered have a decent chance of securing work and also means that customers won’t have to trawl hopelessly through the entire phone book trying to source services.

At a time of such uncertainty, the provision of such a new online facility can only be viewed as a positive way of helping local builders through the construction slowdown.
Any tradesman, building service or supplier wishing to register with the site should call 051-645824 or e-mail info@pricebeforeyoubuild.ie
