The expansion of a courier firm in New Ross, both in terms of factory floor space and employment levels has been commended by local TD and Minister of State Sean Connick.
Fastway Couriers, ironically a franchise which Minister Connick set about acquiring back in 2001 before entering politics, now operates from a 21,500 square foot depot on the Waterford Road Business Park.
Minister Connick, who officially opened the new depot on Friday last, welcomed the company’s expansion.
“I was well informed about the franchise itself and I saw the potential that it had,” he told The Munster Express.
“So it was great, even though I did the business model for it at the time, that someone in New Ross ended up getting the franchise.
“Willie (Day – the regional franchisee) has created 45 jobs and has plans for further expansion in the coming months, and that’s a huge success story in the current economic climate.”
