A glancing header by Seamus Long from a 30-yard Conor Sinnott free on 65 minutes soared gloriously into the roof of the Liverpool net to give Waterford United a famous victory over Premiership aristocrats, Liverpool FC, at the RSC on Wednesday night last.

Almost 6,000 fans packed the ground to welcome the Reds to the Suirside venue. Despite the fact that the visitors’ side comprised mainly reserve team players, it didn’t take from the carnival atmosphere that prevailed before, throughout and at the end of the game.
