Thomas Barr from Ferrybank AC turned in some outstanding performances at the European Junior Championships in Talinn, Estonia last week. The 19 years old Waterford athlete, competing in the 400 metres hurdles made it through to the final with three brilliant performances. On Friday he won his heat with a big personal best of 51.29 seconds to set a new Irish Junior record. In Saturday’s semi final once again Thomas set a personal best of 50.74 seconds to be beaten by inches into second place in the same time as the winner and again easily progressed to Sunday’s final on his 19th birthday.
