The blazing sun may have affected the players of both sides in this game. Five stars could not be awarded for skill and class but having said that the effort was as intense as the heat at the Crystal complex last Sunday.

The result gives Southend United their first point of the season, but following Bohemians’ victory over Johnville the previous evening, the Ballybeg men are still six points adrift at the bottom. However, if they can produce some more displays like this they will start moving up the league table.

Crystal had to plan without their hit men Martin Tynan and Joe Watson so they will also be happy enough with their point.
