Waterford United began their pre-season campaign in Danesfield, Cappoquin on Wednesday last, the first game of a long hard campaign that won’t come to an end until Friday, October 29th when Longford Town visit the RSC.
Many pundits are predicting that 2011 will be the year that the Blues finally clinch promotion back to the Premier League, and who knows this outing on what was a bitterly cold night in West Waterford could prove to be an important contest.
The game was played in aid of the Irish Kidney Association (Waterford Branch) and the unique contest proved to be a winner for all concerned. The Cappoquin Club rolled out the red carpet for this heart-warming occasion, so much so that everyone present forgot about the chilling wind.
