Number Eight Dylan Davies crashed over in the corner to secure a dramatic win for Carrick-on-Suir over Waterford City on Sunday last.

A campaign that’s been full of twists and turns for both Carrick-on-Suir and Waterford City was exemplified on Sunday last, when the sides produced another highly physical and thoroughly competitive derby.
As had occurred the previous Sunday away to Douglas, Carrick were in arrears and scoreless at half-time but once again managed to turn matters around to dramatically clinch victory.
For the disappointed City side, their fourth defeat in seven outings would, in probably any other league season, have left them well out of promotion contention by now.
But thanks to picking up a losing bonus, their sixth such ‘BP’ this season and given the vagaries of results to date, the Kilbarry club cannot yet be dismissed in what’s proving an intriguing race for 3B honours.
In a match played in chilly, windy conditions, both packs enjoyed a mighty tussle and it was no surprise that on a heavy sod, most of the game was played upfront.
City started the stronger, pressing Carrick back into their own 22, but failed to convert their early territorial supremacy into points, with Aaron Foskin missing penalties in the fifth and 24th minutes.
