Comeragh-Gaels-2010

Comeragh Gaels 1-10;  Kilmacthomas 1-9

After over 200 minutes of football Comeragh Gaels are county under-21 ‘B’ football champions, eventually and only just overcoming the challenge of Kilmacthomas at the third time of asking in Walsh Park last Saturday.
As in the two previous encounters both sides gave it their all from first whistle to the last and the fact that Kilmacthomas were still in contention at the end told exactly how evenly the two sides were matched once more.
Kilmacthomas fielded without Kaelon Kiersey who impressed at full forward in the two previous games but they did not miss him too much at the start as, despite playing into the wind, they took and early lead courtesy of an Eamon Walsh point.
It did not look as if it was to be the group side’s day as they kicked three wides that should have resulted in scores before Pa Walsh registered their first point with ten minutes played. Kilmac’s response was rapid as David Hallahan and Kavan Dee added scores in quick succession to give them a two-point lead.
The remainder of the half continued to ebb and flow as the ball travelled from end to end. Kilmacthomas, with the possession they had, were not punishing Comeragh Gaels on the scoreboard and this came back to haunt them as points from Paul Walsh, and Kevin Sheehan levelled matters as the game entered the last ten minutes of the half.
