A man in his forties died after a fall in the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford at the weekend.
The walker from County Tipperary fell approximately 10 meters near the top of the Mahon Falls on Sunday afternoon.

A relative who was with him provided CPR while the emergency services were en route to the scene.
At 1.30pm, South East Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) were tasked by the Aeronautical Desk of the National Ambulance Service to assist in the evacuation of the man. SEMRA initiated a full team call out to Mahon Falls where the man was seriously injured. Within a short time the Waterford Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 117, was at the scene and lowered the winch man down to the casualty site. The winch man treated the casualty at the scene. An experience member of SEMRA was also on scene and assisted the winch man and controlled the hi-line for lowering the stretcher and evacuating the injured walker.
The casualty was air lifted to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) where he was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital.SEMRA escorted the casualty’s family members down from hill and had a vehicle waiting at the bottom of the Mahon Falls to transport them to UHW. In a statement, SEMRA expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and thanked agencies for their assistance with the incident, namely the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter, Rescue 117 Waterford, National Ambulance Service, and An Garda Siochana, Tramore.
A post-mortem was schedule to take place yesterday (Monday).Investigations are continuing. However, the death is being treated as a tragic accident.
