Despite the fact they were playing their first game for over eight weeks, the Villa eased their way into the next round of the Munster Cup by inflicting the first cup defeat of the season on Dungarvan United in Kilrush Park.
Dungarvan were never really at the races in this contest and they will be hoping for a vast improvement when they play Millford from Donegal in the FAI Junior Cup on Sunday, January 13th at the same venue.
This game was originally fixed for Connors Park but it was rained off in December so Dungarvan gained home advantage but that fact did not help them at all because the Villa held the upper hand all through. In Tilson and Paul Omotoso had them leading 2-0 at the interval. When Paul Omotoso scored again midway through the second half the game was well and truly over. Villa will now host Carrick United in the next round in Connors Park.
