John Mitchels 0-10; Portlaw 0-8

For the second successive year, John Mitchels proved too good for Portlaw in the Eastern Intermediate Football Championship as they ran out winners by two points in Kill last Saturday.

Despite the relatively low scoring, this was a very entertaining game and when Portlaw took the lead, five minutes into the second half, a changing of the guard was possible.

However, Mitchels are a doughty outfit and spurred on by the excellent David Kirwan, they dug out the victory to book a place in the County Final.

Portlaw started this game very well and with the two Darrens, Long and Rockett winning a lot of ball in the middle of the field, they went on the front foot from an early stage.
