The twinning link between Tramore, and the town of Cadoujac near Bordeaux in France, was approved by Waterford Co. Council, at a meeting in Dungarvan, this week, when the French Mayor and a deputation from there were welcomed to Co Waterford.

Speaking in French, the County Manager, Ray O’Dwyer, said the Council would give all support possible to bring to fruition the youth projects being promoted by the twinning scheme.

The Mayor of Cadoujac, Monsieur Francis Gazeau, thanked the people of County Waterford for their wonderful hospitality and said they had enjoyed a very good visit. He said they hoped to develop a number of youth projects together.

Cllr Ann Marie Power (FG) also spoke in French and said one of the great things about their new friendship was that there were no frontiers and boundaries between them

The members of the County Council wished the French delegation ‘bon voyage’ as they left Dungarvan for Cork Airport to fly home.
