A late Gavin O’Brien point gave Roanmore a precious one point victory over Passage at Walsh Park last Sunday and in the process gave them a glimmer of hope as they seek to hold on to their senior status for 2012. In truth, this was not a game of great quality but it was tense, close and captivating to the finish and O’Brien’s exquisite point was a just conclusion to the contest.

Passage came into this game minus a lot of regulars such as Killian Fitzgerald, Mark Wyse, Owen Connors and Jason Flood who were all away on holidays. Roanmore too were without regular starters such as Stephen Grant, Stephen Murphy and Cein Chester but with one significant difference. They were sitting in the stand waiting to be introduced when needed.
