On a wet and windswept Friday evening, Martin Cullen T.D., Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism opened Waterford Live Art at the Coast Guard Station, Tramore. Nineteen artists had work on exhibition, mostly nudes, some sculpture and figurative work.
Lionel Powell had a fine selection of small Bronze sculptures. The colourful long confident flowing free-form lines in John Cullinan’s work was impressive especially All About Colour.
Liz Walsh had excellent celtic studies based on the work as Gaeilge of Peig Sayers where her words were over-written on nude studies. Her Breith Mo Chead Linbh was marvelous and exciting.
Tom Molloy Snr had a fine Male Study and John Gallagher had some fine watercolours on paper. Ann Greenan had some robust nude studies and Wexford artist Paddy Darigan had strong expressive and detailed nudes that glowed with an erotic sensation.
Neil Larkin had some interesting speed drawings, especially the active Posers.
Pauline Culbert had an attractive Reclining Yellow and Andrea Jameson just wowed me with a splendid pastel on paper, Dancing To Johnny Cash.
Ger Kennedy’s necklace was brilliant and she exuded summer radiance.
