The Dungarvan Dramatic Club marked another achievement in community theatre when under Fidelma Meaney’s careful direction, when they presented the Arthur Millar classic The Crucible. The cast of nineteen stuck to the essential truth of the text and created an up-to-date feeling that issues of lies, fabrication, spite and blame are still with us. Those who should guide and decide for us often are found out to be dissemblers and liars.

This is a difficult task for any theatre group and while some of the casting was suspect and some performances were just delivery of lines, the essential threads and values were always in evidence and sometimes powerfully so.
