Just when I thought the magic and nostalgia of Tops or Tops of the Town, later to become the nationally famous John Player Tops, was a thing of the past, like its memorable signature tune, almost out of the blue, I discovered that the Tops concept is alive and drawing in the crowds again. A new generation has seen the possibilities and this June, the Olympia Theatre in Dublin hosted the All Ireland Tops, where three teams contested the Grand Final. Taghmon Tops Group (Wexford), Atomie Stage School (Dublin) and Odyssey Tops (Limerick) participated with the Limerick group coming out on top.
