A total of 13 men remained in Garda custody as we went to press following a series of raids across the south east on Monday and Tuesday which led to the discovery of 100,000 contraband cigarettes in Carlow town.
Over 100 Gardaí as well as officials from Revenue and the Criminal Assets Bureau were involved in Monday’s searches at homes and businesses in Waterford, Clonmel, Carlow, Edenderry (Offaly), along with Portlaoise and Portarlington (Laois).
