The choice of Wexford over Waterford for the location of the new regional Vocational Education Committee HQ was “finely balanced” Education Minister Ruairi Quinn told Waterford County Council last week.

But that cut no mustard with Councillors, angered by the choice of Wexford, calling on Minister Quinn to further elaborate on the selection of cabinet colleague Brendan Howlin’s political stronghold for the new office.

In a letter sent to the Council, Ronnie Ryan, the Minister’s private secretary said the new HQ would facilitate staff redeployment to the greatest extent possible within the context of the Croke Park Agreement.
