Waterford County Council, in association with the Tramore Tidy Towns Group, plans the development of a new Town Park in the seaside resort on land between the Promenade and Lower Branch Road, the traditional entrance to the town.

The new park will be set in land surrounding the privately owned boating lake and will consist of an entrance area, steps, water features, embankments, a bridge, dog park and playground as well as an outdoor gym and café.

Six submissions were received during public consultation which mainly welcomed the project but queried the size of the one acre dog park, the outdoor gymnasium and the zoning of land for development.

In a submission, Agnes Aylward, Doneraile Walk, Tramore, welcomed the link between the existing Tramore House Gardens and the public town park. She said she had some experience of seaside planting and offered to share her knowledge with the design team.

Hotelier, Annette Devine of the Majestic Hotel, supported the park proposal but objected to the zoning of the area opposite the hotel for development on the grounds that it was the traditional entrance to the town and offered views over the lake and beyond.
