A crash early last night (Thursday) at Port Road, near Slieverue, claimed the life of a motor cyclist. He was Kenneth Skannell (27), a factory worker who resided at Curraghmore, Slieverue.

The accident happened shortly after 7 o’clock, the bike impacting side-on with a car which emerged from a side road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car’s two occupants, a male and female, both teenagers, were seriously injured and removed by ambulance to Waterford Regional Hospital. They are also from the local area.

The road was closed and diversions put in place until members of the garda forensic collision investigation team had examined the scene.
