Congratulations to Kilkenny on winning the All-Ireland hurling title following their victory over defending champions Tipperary after a compelling contest at Croke Park on Sunday last.
That the Black and Amber deserved their win cannot be questioned, but the injury sustained by referee Brian Gavin after an incident involving Kilkenny’s Tommy Walsh appears to have been glossed over.
Walsh escaped sanction, when it’s clear that had his hurl connected with a Tipperary player’s head, Gavin would have had little option but to dismiss Walsh and thus alter the complexion of the game entirely.
