Elsewhere in the FAI Junior Cup third round, Johnville defeated Grannagh 3-1 so a repeat of last season’s shock result was not repeated. Valdo Bulvas scored with a volley from 25 yards for Johnville before Gavin Phelan made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
Johnville had John Kennedy red carded after 28 minutes when Grannagh were awarded a penalty which John Purcell netted. Gary Kelly wrapped up the game for the city outfit in the last minute.
Bohemians beat Dungarvan United in Kilrush Park thanks to a goal from Gary Keane six minutes into the second half. He shook off two tackles before crashing the ball to the back of the net.
Contrary to reports that swept through local soccer circles, the draw has not been made for Round 4. The names of the remaining clubs will be drawn later this week or indeed early next week.
