UCD, who were joint leaders with Waterford United at the top of the League of Ireland First Division, were beaten for the second time this season last night (Thursday) when they lost one nil to Sporting Fingal. The only goal of the game was scored by Conan Doyle after 75 minutes.

The result means that if Waterford United can defeat Wexford Youths on Saturday at the RSC, the Blues will go three points clear at the top of the table. UCD remain on a total of 29 points. Sporting Fingal, who were trounced by the Blues last weekend move on to 27 points, two behind Stephen Henderson’s outfit. The result of last night’s game is a massive boost for the Blues ahead of their local derby against Mick Wallaces’s team tomorrow.
