A 21-house Focus Ireland development was opened in Dungarvan by Housing and Urban Renewal Minister Michael Finneran yesterday (Tuesday), bringing to 92 the total of homes built in Waterford under the charity’s five-year strategy.

The new Dungarvan facility is composed of a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units which will provide homes for local families as well as single people.

The co-operation of Focus Ireland, Dungarvan Town Council, Waterford County Council and the Department of the Environment brought the new project into being.

“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in getting this great development up and running to provide 21 new homes in Dungarvan,” said Minister Finneran.

“I would also like to sincerely wish the residents many years of happiness and fulfilment in their new homes.”

Focus Ireland’s Waterford manager David Niblock said the development showed “what can be achieved through partnership work and acts as a great example of how housing need can be effectively addressed”.

Added Mr Niblock: “The partnership approach has been very successful for Focus Ireland around the county and this can be seen in the south east area as our work is well underway in the region.

“I’m glad to say this work is helping change many people’s lives for the better.”
