Na Piarsaigh (Limerick) 3-9; Ballygunner 0-12

The Munster Club championship will not be Deise-bound in 2011 after Ballygunner went under to Na Piarsaigh of Limerick by six points at Walsh Park last Sunday.

In the end, the Limerick champions demonstrated the old adage about goals winning games, as their three-goal salvo in nine minutes helped them into a Munster final against Clare’s Crusheen.

Much of the talk beforehand focussed on the scoring threat posed by Na Piarsaigh full-forward Kevin Downes.

But on a day when Downes was nullified expertly by full-back Willie Kiely, one of Ballygunner’s unsung heroes, it was Shane Dowling who did the damage with two goals in three minutes.
