Villa 3; Bohemians 1

Bohemians failed to build on their midweek victory against Waterford Crystal when they lost to Villa at a wet Connors Park on Saturday night. They got off to a good start when Bobby Keoghan finished off a fine move involving Ryan Foley and Andrew Denn after 24 minutes.

Villa got back on level terms through Ross Douglas just before the hour mark. He ran to the far post to meet a cross from the left from Conor McDonald and finished with his right foot. Paul Omotoso put the Villa in front on 67 minutes with a superb shot from the left. Bohs thought they had grabbed a point in the last minute of normal time through Alan Quinlan but the Villa goalkeeper Robert Bresnan produced a stunning diving save.

Deep into injury time Gerry Connors made the game safe for the home side. Robert Bresnan knocked a free kick downfield which was knocked on by Danny Sheridan and Connors did the rest.

Six-goal thriller

Southend United 3 Dungarvan United 3

Southend lost on four occasions to Dungarvan last season and once again they found the going hard against the Old Borough outfit on Sunday last. They led 1-0 at half time courtesy of a goal from Chris Feehan. The second half was full of exciting football. Paddy Dooley scored for Southend as indeed did Lee Hayes.

Lee Russell missed a penalty for Southend but Kevin Walsh scored from the spot for Dungarvan. Walsh then netted from normal play but with three minutes played of injury time, Kevin Walsh popped up once again to complete his hat-trick. Amazing stuff in Southend Park. This was the first point secured by Dungarvan this season.
