UTV stretched out the last of the Linda La Plante stories with The Commander starring Amanda Burton as the luckless top cop. They got three hours over three nights from a script that could have closed the lot in an hour and a half with adverts included. Still, if you have top attraction Burton, you make it last. This was First territory with a drunken cop who might have killed his mother and an abduction of her sidekicks baby from a maternity ward. It was all over the shop, with loud angry performances from a few of the usual over-actors. The Commander gets all moody and broody and makes a wrong decision and it was goodnight and cocoa for those of use who kept the three night vigil.
