So Tyrone are appealing the severity of six-week suspension handed out by the GAA’s disciplinary committee to Ryan McMenamin arising out of his despicable carry-on against Kerry two Sundays ago. They should consider severing the appeal if the Sam Maguire holders are serious about tackling this one-man risk to their reputation.

Croke Park’s disciplinary chief, Tallow, County Waterford man Pat Daly stressed during the week that there’s “no way” the experimental laws in relation to yellow and black cards are part of some anti-Ulster agenda by Croke Park.

“These rules are a part of a bigger respect programme and trying to underpin what the Association is about… I don’t have a problem with Ulster guys because they play with a lot of aggression and that’s a wonderful feature of Ulster football.”
