Erins Own 2-13; Abbeyside 2-5
After several years out of the limelight, the good times may well be on the way back to Erins Own following victory over Abbeyside at Walsh Park on Saturday last.
On the day it was a superb team performance which was the key to Erins Own’s victory with several players, including county minor Darragh Flynn putting in superlative performances.
The teams were evenly matched in the early stages with the Westerners more than matching the city side in the opening periods.
Erins Own took the lead in the first minute, with a point from full-forward Adam Byrne (a son of former Waterford full-back, Damien). Abbeyside managed to equalise through a free from their full-forward Colin Kindregan.
