A DISPUTE over burial entitlements is raging in a County Waterford parish.
Strong feelings on the issue in the parish of Dunhill and Fenor prompted more than 200 people to attend a recent meeting which was held in the Dunhill Enterprise Centre. It’s understood there are particular fears amongst members of the parish that people who grew up in the area but now live elsewhere may not accommodated with a plot in their hometown cemetery in the future.
As a result of the meeting, a proposal on burial entitlements has been sent to the local Parish Pastoral Council.
Additional meetings are planned for the coming weeks to address the issue of who is eligible for burial in the graveyards of the parish.
