S3PicAWaterford’s senior footballers, under the guidance of Niall Carew have made the perfect start to this year’s National Football League.Division Four was predicted to be a very difficult place to come out of this year and so it is proving to be with little separating the majority of the competing teams.A single point win over Clare in the opening round has now been followed up with a five-point win over a Tipperary side which would have expected better than two defeats from their first two outings.

Waterford were forced to line out without the services of team captain Gary Hurney in their opening two games which many felt would hinder Waterford’s chances somewhat. But such is the confidence in this team right now, they have hardly missed him and when he does come back into contention for a place in the starting line-up against Limerick on March 2nd in Fraher Field, it will come as a big boost to the side.
