Department of Education-approved cuts to Further Education (FE) teaching and funding could inflict a ‘huge blow’ upon Waterford College of Further Education (WCFE), it has been claimed.According to the Teacher’s Union of Ireland (TUI), the latest cut announcement “will throw hundreds of teachers out of work and shut down courses designed to get people into employment”.
Regarding WCFE, such cuts “could be a huge blow to the college, given its status as the largest provider of Further Education in the South East, and a direct cause of increased unemployment in a region which already suffers from chronic unemployment and the loss of major employers over the last number of years”.
