Aine McCarthy-Kent, chair of Tramore’s Comhaltas Branch, is a woman on a mission – to make music accessible to all whilst bringing trad into the 21st Century.
The branch has been meeting every Thursday night at Tramore’s Gaelscoil Philib Barun for over a year now – during which time it has expanded its membership from 40 to over 100. And it keeps on growing . . .
“When the group started out in 2009 we were teaching fiddle, whistle, flute and during the year we started banjo, mandolin, concertina, button accordion and trad guitar. We also started the Comhra conversation classes and set dancing, which is now run by Rose Murphy and we’re affiliated with Catriona McIlhiney Irish
