It’s good to see that Waterford Film Festival has made it to its fifth year and has settled into the good facilities at Greyfriar’s Gallery. The place was welcoming, with coloured spotlights outside, a great set of black “legs” or drapes to darken the space, a state of the art projection system and some proper chairs for a change.
The brainchild of Stephen Byrne and his production manager Jamie Dower, has settled well and now focuses on the short film genre with pleasing results. The City Council Arts Officer Conor Nolan, must be pleased as this venue does well for a festival of its size. What it achieves within a small budget is admirable and it showcases national and some international work that might not otherwise get a screening.
