For as long as any of us can remember, it’s fair to say, Waterford’s retailers have faced stiff challenges from many locations in attracting shoppers.
While it once was the weekend to New York that posed the main obstacle in enticing Christmas shoppers, it’s now our neighbouring towns and cities that pose the biggest threat.
And, if comments I’ve heard and read are anything to go by, this year could see many more challenges manifesting themselves for the city’s retailers.
I’ve recently listened to numerous people exalt the offerings Kilkenny has as a shopping destination, commenting on, not just the range of shops on offer, but the buzz which exudes from the city centre.
