Carrick-on-Suir native John Nolan has secured €1.5 million in European Research Council funding in recognition of his ground-breaking work on the prevention of degenerative eye disease.
Dr Nolan becomes the first Irish researcher based at an Institute of Technology (WIT) to receive such funding, with five new jobs to be created at WIT as result of his success.
